may be no fees applied for services received. In any circumstance, please do not delay your imaging exam because you are concerned about payment.

Please see the financial aid application below or call (253) 680-3485, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to speak with a Financial Counselor. Interpretive services are also available via conference call for non-English speaking patients.

Financial Assistance Programs

Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act went into effect on January 1, 2014 and all individuals are now required to have health insurance. This is a national effort created to ensure that everyone has access to health care, regardless of financial circumstances, even if they are sick or have a prior health issue. Under the Affordable Care Act, screening mammography will be covered under preventive care.

Before you apply for any of the financial assistance programs below, we encourage you to first attempt to enroll in an insurance plan.

Financial Aid Application

The Carol Milgard Breast Center has funds to help patients receive their exams. However, before you apply for financial assistance at the breast center, please apply for health insurance.  If you have already applied for health insurance, please provide information about your insurance with your financial aid application.

Please note: Qualification for a health insurance program will not bar you from participating in our financial assistance program. Our program may cover the deductible or coinsurance, if eligible, and may cover charges of participants not eligible for insurance.

If you think you might be eligible for financial assistance, fill out the Financial Aid Application and return it to the breast center, along with any supporting documents, at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.  Please note that the entire application must be filled out. An incomplete application will result in the delay of eligibility. You can also fax it to (253) 680-3558 or mail it to:

TRA Medical Imaging/CMBC, Attention: Financial Aid
PO Box 1535
Tacoma, WA 98401

If you have recently been granted financial aid by one of these two health systems, you may not need to complete the entire application. Instead, please send us a copy of the current aid letter with the application and we will provide assistance at the same level, if applicable.
