Carol Milgard Breast Center is awarded the highest designation: Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
TACOMA, Wash.—The Carol Milgard Breast Center, located in Tacoma, Washington, has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The center voluntarily went through a rigorous review process to assure it meets nationally accepted standards.
By awarding facilities the status of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The breast imaging services at the Carol Milgard Breast Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety guidelines.
Khai Tran M.D., Medical Director of the Carol Milgard Breast Center and a TRA Medical Imaging radiologist, says, “We are excited that the Carol Milgard Breast Center has received the highest designation possible for a breast imaging program – a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Since the breast center opened in early 2009, our breast health team has provided state-of-the-art services to over 100,000 patients, many of them being our community’s underserved population. Our radiologists and staff are proud to have exceeded the American College of Radiology quality assurance and safety guidelines.”
